Our top priority is creating a safe, inclusive space for the LGBTQ+ community to get together, be themselves, and have fun. Any behavior that threatens this won’t be tolerated. If you witness transphobic, homophobic, or discriminatory behavior, let us know. We’re here to keep the space safe and keep the bigots out.
Whether it’s your first visit or your 100th, be mindful of this queer space and those around you. Here are a few things to always keep in mind:
Respect Boundaries:
Just because the atmosphere is laid-back doesn’t mean consent is optional. Always ask before touching someone or invading their personal space.
Never Assume Gender:
Gender expression (clothing, hairstyle, etc.) isn’t someone’s gender identity. Never assume and always be respectful of how people choose to identify.
Be Mindful of Space:
This is a shared space, so be aware of how your actions impact others. Respect both physical and emotional boundaries.
Straight Allies Are Welcome:
Yes, this is a queer space, but straight folks are absolutely welcome. Just remember: don’t get weird when queer things happen. Whether it’s guys grinding on the dance floor, lesbians kissing over whiskey shots, a drag queen covered in more glitter than you thought possible, or someone in the restroom whose gender identity doesn’t match your expectations—get over it, or go somewhere else.
Also, If there’s a line to get in, think about who needs this space more—you or someone else.
We work hard to make 5801 a clean, fun, welcoming space. Please don’t alter or damage our furniture, fixtures, decorations, lights, plants, or anything else that isn’t yours. Graffiti is also a big no no—vent your angst on social media, not our bathroom walls. In short: don’t break our stuff. And, obviously, respect other people’s property, too.
Weapons are never welcome here. We’re a night club – not a fight club.
Small purses and fanny packs are fine but may be inspected. We can’t hold your stuff, so plan ahead (this applies mainly during peak business times).
No coffee cups, water bottles, small liquor bottles, etc. We need to sell these things to pay our staff and keep the doors open. Support us, and we’ll support you! (And, please, tip your bartender!)
Not in the bar, patio, or deck. Why? In 2021, we teamed up with the Hugh Lane Wellness Foundation and the Pennsylvania Department of Health to go smoke-free and create a healthier space for everyone. If you choose to smoke, it must happen outside our premises to keep our end of the deal.
Got ID? Be ready to show it. If you look under 30 or we don’t know you, we may ask for valid (not expired) ID. A second form may be requested. If we’re unsure, we reserve the right to refuse entry.
We accept these government-issued selfies:
Driver’s License (U.S. or Canadian)
State-Issued ID
Passport (valid)
U.S. Military ID
Don’t act a fool. Be respectful to everyone and our space, and we’ll all have a great time. Cheers!
